What's AvailableCROPS STATUS We opened for strawberry sales Tues April 5, 2011. Other crops are now ripening. See below We normally sell only produce that we raise. The status of our crops is dependent on weather and other aspects of "the will of God". We help where we can! July 13, 2011. Well, DAMN! This drougth and hot weather has decended on us quickly. Even with irrigation our plants are suffering. Insects and particularly grasshoppers are so bad that we can't seem to keep them in check even if we could afford the sprays. Anyhow, under these conditions, we can not grow vegetable that are a joy to present and sell. Sooooo we are going to close earlier than usual this year. Friday July 15th will be our last day for retail sales at the farm this season. When it finally rains we will be pressing to get our land ready for strawberry planting in October. We will then be ready to see you all in April of 2012 when the strawberries ripen. WE THANK ONE AND ALL FOR YOUR BUSINESS THIS YEAR. Jody and Mary Worthington
JULY 1 2011 VEGETABLES Blackeyed Peas - The drougth has taken our peas for this year! We are more sorry than you that we will not have a crop. In past years we have planted a fall crop, but this year I am scheduled for some fall surgery and I doubt the doctors will clear me fors tractsor work in time to plant. Cantaloupe and Watermelons - Production of melons is at it's peak. We should have a good supply of canteloupe and red or yellow watermelons - with or without seeds. Okra - The okra is loving the hot weather. We have a good supply of standard as well as the heirloom stub okra which some folks prefer.. Squash - People here say (toungue in cheek) "If you take your car to town in June be careful to lock the doors - otherwsise someone will fill it with yellow squash!" We have plenty for right now, and are having a good time seling the roune "eight ball" varieties Tomatoes - Our mid-season tomatoes (somewhat larger than before) are beginning to ripen now. We have good supplies Strawberries This seson has long since past. BLACKBERRIES The weather has not treated them kindly. We are having to close the patch several days a week. The heat is taking its toll, but we still have some Kiowa berries to harvest. Call ahead to be sure the patch is open before coming. |
