If you don't find the answer you're looking for, please feel free to contact us by e-mail at: jw0rth@our-town.com 1) Why does your produce cost what it does? 1) Why does your produce cost what it does? It is important to remember that in those years when we are blessed with crops, that each berry, tomato, peach, etc. must be gathered by hand. Seeding, mulching, transplanting, pruning and training are all labor intensive activities. Costs of equipment, fuel, chemicals, labor and governmental regulations are spiraling upward. Natural hazards often limit crop production. Freezing, lack of cold, rain, (too much or too little) winds and hail can all destroy or reduce production. In short, production of labor intensive crops is expensive. We work tirelessly to keep costs down, but with all of our inputs increasing in cost it is not realistic to expect our crops to be the same as they were when Cokes cost a nickel. 2) Are your products organic? Further more, I can not afford to spen $10,000 on a strawberry crop, or 4 years developing a peach orchard only to have it destroyed by a disease that is as common as bread mold and as destructive as a prairie fire. Chemicals are terrifically expensive and laws for their use are stringent. We spray only when we need to in accordance with label instructions. 3) How do I contact the company? Worthington Orchards
